Since ancient times, people have believed that different
gemstones have different meanings and healing properties. It is widely believed
that each gemstone or crystal has it's own energy, which can stimulate the body.
Chakras are wheels of energy that are located in seven
centers within the body. The seven chakras correspond to the seven colors of the
rainbow.
Rotating at different speeds, these Chakra points release
energies, imparting the body with its precious life forces.
Your chakras can become clogged from stress or anxiety,
and some people believe that using gemstones or crystals in accordance with
meditation or bodywork will balance these energy points, promoting health,
happiness and well being.
Your experience with any crystal or gemstone will be a
combination of that gemstones unique properties and what you bring to the
situation. Your experiences will be unique to you.
There are many gemstones listed here in
alphabetical order. Find the gems that correspond with the jewelry pieces you
are interested in to see their meaning.
Amethyst - Amethyst bestows stability, strength, invigoration, and peace. It is
warm and cuddly as well as regal and ruling. It wards against drunkenness
and instills a sober mind. It has been used to encourage
and support sobriety. It is calming and strong. It is also used as a dream
stone and to help with insomnia.
Amazonite - Soothes all chakras and is
particularly rejuvenating to the heart center and throat chakra. It enhances
communications concerning love. Amazonite balances feminine and masculine
energy. It promotes kindness and practicality. It is an excellent stone for
artists and for men. Pale azure blue amazonite is know as the lucky "Hope
Stone". It will be lucky for all your hopes and dreams.
Apatite - Apatite enhances creativity. It is a stone of the
future and will bring knowledge to those attuned to it by clearing mental
confusion. It truly awakens the finer, inner - self. It encourages
extroversion, dissolves alienation, draws out your negativity and stimulates
your creative talents and intellect. Additionally, wearing or carrying
apatite has successfully produced hunger suppression.
Amber - Not a gemstone but a fossilized tree
resin - allows the body to heal itself by absorbing and transmuting negative
energy into positive energy. It stimulates the intellect and opens the crown
chakra. Early physicians prescribed amber for headaches, heart problems,
arthritis and a variety of other ailments. In ancient times, amber was
carried by travelers for protection. Amber brings a carefree and sunny
disposition and promotes good luck and success.
Aventurine (green) - You should never buy a
lottery ticket without an aventurine in your left pocket! It is the stone of
Lady Luck. This is the stone of opportunity. Aventurine is known as the
stone of chance or luck. If you gamble or play the lotto, keep this stone in
your left pocket. It reinforces ones
decisiveness, amplifies ones leadership qualities, and is a willing
participant in instinctive action. Emotional tranquility, positive attitudes
towards life, brings one into alignment with their center. Also promotes independence,
health and well being and heals the heart chakra.
Aventurine (red/orange) - This stone
provides reflective qualities so that one can recognize the flaws of
humanity and can remain in the heart space to continue to love this same
humanity. It can help one look at a situation in complete detail, magnifying
those aspects of importance. It provides for self reflection, and allows one
to recognize that in each person you see but the reflection of that which
you choose to have that person be. It can be used when fasting, to reduce
hunger.
Bloodstone - Strengthens and oxygenates
blood stream. Enhances physical/mental vitality. Strengthens heart, spleen,
bone marrow. Reduces emotional and
mental stress. The Stone of Courage - also for renewal of the physical
mental and emotional bodies. Another powerful healer. It helps one toward
the direct union with the divine through contemplation, prayer or mediation
and love.
Also a very good gem for those in business or self employed.
Blue Lace Agate - This is a calming,
uplifting stone. The blue color strengthens the function of the throat
chakra and encourages peace. Wear or carry blue lace agate for peace and
happiness. Place it in your hand when you feel the need to de-stress. If you
find yourself in stressful situations at work or home, keep some blue lace
agate on your desk and simply gaze at it for relief. In the home, surround
blue lace agate stones with light blue candles to calm the atmosphere and
reduce family quarrels. It can also be used in the treatment of arthritic
conditions and in cases of hereditary bone deformity, strengthening the
skeletal structure. It is useful to enhance the mending of breaks and
fractures.
Carnelian - Carnelian is a huge energy

Citrine - It is one of the few minerals on

also may be used with other stones to promote higher effectiveness.
Garnet - The Garnet is known as the stone
for a successful business. If your business is not as good as it should be,
just put 3 or more garnets on your desk. It is believed that if a garnet is
put under a pillow it will cure depression. Garnets can be used to make a
person popular and have self-esteem when worn as jewelry. It helps protect
one on trips. Garnets bring constancy to friendships. The Garnet is a stone

Green Jade - Jade is the stone of LUCK!
It can be used to bring money into your life. Create a positive attitude
towards money and visualize yourself using money creatively and productively
while holding the stone in your power hand. When making an important
business decision, use the prosperous energies of jade by holding it while
contemplating your course of action. Jade strengthens your mental faculties
and assists in clear reasoning. It is also a protective stone, guarding
against accidents and misfortune.
Hematite - Slightly grounding, reduces
stress, enhances personal magnetism, optimism, will, courage. Stone for the
mind it helps one to realize that the only limitations which exist are
self-limiting concepts within the mind. Stimulates attainment of peace,

Honey Jade - Powerful emotional balance,

Howlite - This mineral can be used to calm

Jasper - Jasper is one of the
oldest known gemstones. It is mentioned in the Bible several times. Jasper
is a strong securing gemstone. It is a stability gemstone. It is a powerful
protection against things that are not good for you and it eases emotional
stresses, making it a wonderful gemstone to have in your home. Jasper gives
one the courage to speak out and have personal independence. It also
protects from fears in the night. Red jasper is thought to help balance the
energy in the body. All jaspers help balance the emotional energy in the
body.
Labradorite - Labradorite is a power stone,
allowing you to see through illusions and determine the actual form of your
dreams and goals. It is excellent for strengthening intuitions. It
stimulates imagination, develops enthusiasm and new ideas and helps you to
see more clearly.
Lapis Lazuli - Augments strength, vitality,
virility and mental clarity. Enhances psychic abilities and
communication with higher self and spirit guides. Creative expression. It

physical danger. This stone is purifying and healing. The ancient Egyptians used Lapis Lazuli as a symbol of
Truth.
Malachite - Malachite is believed to be a
strong protector of children. It is said to protect the wearer from
accidents and protects travelers. Malachite has been used to aid success in
business and protect against undesirable business associations. It is a
stone of balance in relationships.
Moonstone - Moonstone is a love stone. It
will reunite lovers who have quarreled. It is said if you give your lover a
moonstone necklace when the moon is full you will always have passion with
each other! This stone brings good fortune, enhances intuition, brings
success in love and business and offers protection on land and at sea. The
most powerful time to use moonstone is when there is a full moon. It is
often considered a "womans" stone.
Mother of Pearl & Pearl - It signifies
faith, charity, and innocence, enhances personal integrity, and helps to
provide focus to ones attention. The pearl has been known as a stone of
sincerity, bring truth to situations and loyalty to a cause. It has been
used to inhibit boisterous behavior, and to provide a reflection of the self

is Apache Tears a black obsidian. Obsidian can help protect against the

Onyx - This stone can help release negative
emotions such as sorrow or grief. It is
grounding and can be used to deflect or absorb the negativity of others. It

Peridot - Peridot is a stone of lightness
and beauty. Only spiritual or clear-minded persons should use Peridot. The
